OLIVE OIL AND HEALTH

*Natural Extra Virgin Olive Oil naturally contains mainly vitamin E and also vitamins A, D and K. Vitamin E, which is a particularly powerful antioxidant, helps tissue regeneration and eliminates the damage caused by stress in cells. It is possible to be protected from the damage of free radicals that occur as a result of stress, with the help of some enzymes in the body and vitamins A, E and C. Olive oil has a different feature due to its molecular structure. Since it contains monounsaturated (monounsaturated) fatty acids, it is somewhere between polyunsaturated fats such as sunflower, cotton and corn oil and saturated fats of animal origin. And it increases the levels of good cholesterol (HDL) cholesterol. The protective effect of olive oil on the cardiovascular system is not limited to HDL. The fact that almost no cardiovascular disease is encountered on the islands of Crete and Corfu, where the people use only olive oil in practically all kinds of dishes, has led researchers to work in this direction. After these researches, olive oil took its place at the top of the protective nutrition lists for the vascular system.

* The gallbladder and ducts are one of the organs in which olive oil has a positive effect. Apart from stimulating the contraction of the gallbladder, the cholecystokinin secreted after olive oil is eaten, helps the Oddi sphincter, which is the mouth of the bile duct in the intestine, to stay open for a longer time. This, in turn, eliminates health problems such as gallbladder laziness, gallstone formation and indigestion.

* Olive oil also nourishes the skin, strengthens hair and nails. It provides brain development and strengthening of bones in children.

*Olive oil has also been shown to slow down the aging process. Free radical formation is an event that accelerates cell aging. Since polyunsaturated (polyunsaturated) oils have a large number of unsaturated double chains, free radical formation occurs more during the burning of these oils. However, olive oil has a balanced structure in this respect. In addition, tocopherols, which are the building elements of vitamin E, which have an effect against the formation of free radicals and reduce their damage, are also abundant in olive oil.

*The substance named “squalene” obtained from shark cartilage is shown as an answer to the question of why no cancer has been found in sharks, which are the most studied mammals in the world today for cancer treatment. This substance is abundant in extra virgin olive oil. 100 cl per day. With the consumption of olive oil, enough sgualene is taken from the shark cartilage.
